It settles on surfaces you’d never think to check and leaves behind an odor that comes back every time the humidity rises. Q: Why does the smoke smell come back after I clean?

A: Because the source is still there. Smoke particles settle into drywall, insulation, carpet padding, and wood framing, then release odor whenever temperature or humidity changes. Surface cleaning removes what’s visible, not what’s absorbed. Professional treatment reaches the materials underneath.

Q: Can smoke damage affect my health even after the fire is out?

A: Yes. Smoke residue contains fine particles and chemical compounds that can irritate the lungs, trigger allergies, and worsen asthma. If anyone in your home has respiratory conditions, cleaning should happen before you return, not after.

Q:Do I need to replace drywall that smells like smoke?

A: Not always. In many cases, sealed and properly treated drywall can be salvaged. If the smoke penetrated deeply or the drywall was also exposed to water, replacement may be the better option. We assess each situation individually.

Q: How long does smoke damage cleaning take?

A: A single-room kitchen fire might take two to three days. A whole-house smoke event can take one to two weeks, depending on how far the residue traveled and how many surfaces need treatment. We provide a timeline after inspection.

Q: Is it worth filing an insurance claim for smoke damage?

A: In most cases, yes. Smoke damage is typically covered under standard homeowners policies, and the cost of professional cleaning often exceeds the deductible. We document everything and work directly with your adjuster to support your claim.
